Marimekko's famous Unikko pattern was created in 1964, a time when the design house's collections primarily featured abstract patterns. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting with this organic theme and designed an entire series of floral patterns. Today, the iconic flower symbolizes creativity.
