Marimekko's famous Unikko pattern was created in 1964, at a time when the design house's collections mainly featured abstract patterns. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting based on this organic theme and designed a whole series of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower symbolizes creativity.
