Transport insurance conditions
The transport insurance terms and conditions were last updated on 19 July 2024
1. Object of insurance
The insurance covers the transport mentioned in the conditions and the goods in accordance with the insurance conditions.
2. The price of the insurance
The price of transport insurance is €4.90, unless otherwise stated.
3. Validity of the insurance
The insurance is valid for the duration of one (1) transport, starting with the delivery of the goods to the transport company and ending with the delivery of the goods to the recipient.
4. Insurance coverage in goods
The insurance covers the loss or damage of goods during transport in the following situations:
• Theft
• Fire
• Transport accident
• Water damage
• Other unexpected and sudden damage
• Product breakage
• Melting of products (e.g. chocolate)
5. Amount of compensation in case of transport damage to goods
In the case of damage according to section 4, the full value of the products is compensated for the damaged products. Products are only replaced in those cases when the customer has complied with the company's general order and contract terms.
The insurance's maximum compensation amount for goods is €500.00/shipment.
6. Insurance coverage for delivery
The insurance covers delivery delays, loss or damage during transport in the following situations:
• Theft
• Fire
• Transport accident
• Water damage
• Other unexpected and sudden damage
• Product breakage
• Delay in delivery
7. Compensation amount for transport/delivery in cases other than lateness
In situations according to section 6 (excluding lateness), the part corresponding to the entire delivery fee of the shipment will be reimbursed.
The maximum compensation amount of the insurance is €500.00/shipment.
8. Compensation amount for late transportation/delivery
The insurance covers late delivery under the conditions below. In the case of delays, the estimated delivery date given by the transport companies is used as a condition.
Economy and pick-up point services:
1 day = 25% of the portion of the transport fee
2 days = 50% of the transport fee
more than two (2) days = 100% of the portion of the transportation fee
Express/Priority services:
1 day = 50% of the transport fee
2 days = 100% of the portion of the transport fee
The maximum compensation amount of the insurance is €500.00/shipment.
9. Deductible
There is no deductible in the insurance.
10. Exclusions
The insurance does not cover damage caused by:
• Normal wear and tear or deterioration
• As a result of war, rebellion, riot or other similar event
• Natural disasters and other natural phenomena
• Delays and damage caused by the customer's own actions
• Delays due to customs processing
• Force majeure events
11. Damages Procedure
In the event of damage, the policyholder must immediately notify the insurer of the damage and submit the necessary reports and documents in accordance with the insurer's order and contract terms.
12. Termination of insurance
The insurance ends automatically at the end of the transport. The policyholder does not have the right to get the insurance premium back if the insurance is canceled before the end of the transport.
13. Other terms
The insurance is only valid for deliveries of the goods mentioned in the insurance conditions, when the insurance is purchased before the order is sent.
14. Applicable law and dispute resolution
Any disputes are primarily resolved through negotiations, and if no solution is found, the disputes are handled in the courts of the insurer's domicile. The applicable law is Finnish law.
